Having recently finished my T-LEVEL in Management and Administration at Gateway College Sixth Form, I am a motivated eighteen-year-old. Having completed over 300 hours of work experience, I am keen to grow my understanding and pick up new skills while enhancing those I have already acquired from past positions. I’m excited to use my transferrable talents and I’m actively looking for challenges that will push me to succeed and further develop my skills.
I worked with the DMU Widening Participation (WP) Team for ten weeks at De Montfort University. My responsibilities included supporting daily operations and interacting with students at various events for primary, secondary, and college students, such as career fairs and on-campus days. Conducting a mini-campus tour to guarantee student participation and answer any concerns they could have had, was one of my major responsibilities when leading that part of the tour.
Together with strengthening my technical skills in Excel pivot table creation and other Microsoft Office applications, I also handled administrative tasks that helped me develop my data analysis abilities by evaluating data and producing a pivot table report for my manager. I also carried out an independent investigation to find areas where the team could streamline its operations.
Furthermore, to hone my IT and customer service abilities, I also spent four days working with the DMU inquiries team, where I offered support via MessageBird to answer any queries people may have about DMU. This meant that I had to make sure to use appropriate language for communication and to make sure that I answered their query and that my level of customer service was consistent.
