I currently work for CGI LLP as a DCM technician, This involves providing secure access in and out of Datacentres, Racking and unracking kit, Creating Rack Diagrams, Cable tracing, troubleshooting faults with the physical infrastructure, Maintaining air flow managment for all hardware, Monitoring power utilization, Maintaining UPS and back-up Generators, Patching servers, assisting in any repairs that may need completed, Installation of structured cabling ensuring the correct colour coding has been adhered to and correct length used, Providing Impact Assesments and TA's for change and project work.
I have 9 years of experience working within the IT\Networking sector, A brief overview of my day to day tasks include: Providing infrastructure support within a datacentre, responding to high severity server faults, applying best practice within datacentres, decommissioning kit, engaging third party's for repairs, Racking Servers in a Datacentre, Patching and installing structured cabling for servers, Air flow management, Managing on-going projects, Creating and updating rack diagrams using MS Visio, TrackIT and Asset Spire.
