Brian Van Zyl

Senior UX researcher with previous experience across Big Tech (Meta, Google), Government (GDS), Banking (American Express), non-profit, and consultancy.

Expert in qualitative methodologies (interviews, focus groups, diary studies, ethnography, usability testing, concept testing, card-sorting, intercepts etc).

5+ years experience with UX research across many sectors. Most recently, was a full-time UX researcher at Meta (Facebook/Instagram) where I lead a range of large-scale research projects on behalf of the Customer Support team. I also have experience with agencies, in banking/fin-tech (American Express), and government (GDS).

I completed my MPhil in Development Studies at University of Oxford in 2020, and I've since been working part-time on my PhD - also at Oxford - where my work examines the experiences of LGBTQ+ refugees in East Africa.
