Casey Woods

I am an enthusiastic and dedicated Teaching Assistant with over two and a half years' experience within an independent preparatory school, supporting children from Nursery to Year 4. I am passionate about helping children develop confidence, overcome challenges and achieve things they once believed they couldn't. Building positive relationships and celebrating every child's success is at the heart of my approach to education.

My experience spans classroom support, targeted intervention groups, SEND provision, PE, Games, swimming, educational visits, residentials, holiday clubs and curriculum enrichment through dance and the performing arts. Alongside my Teaching Assistant role, I continue to teach dance to children aged 3–18, bringing creativity, energy and confidence-building into every learning environment. Prior to the unexpected closure of Avon House Preparatory School, I was selected to become the school's Pre-Prep Curriculum Dance Teacher after successfully planning and delivering an assessed demonstration lesson.

Teaching Assistant at Avon House Preparatory School (2024-01 – 2026-08)

Joined Avon House as a Midday & Out of Hours Care Assistant with additional responsibilities as a Sports Assistant. Progressed into a full-time Teaching Assistant whilst completing the Level 3 Diploma in Supporting Teaching & Learning before being selected as the school's future Pre-Prep Curriculum Dance Teacher.

• Supported pupils across Nursery, Reception and Years 1–4 with a primary classroom base in Year 3.
• Planned and delivered three or more weekly literacy and numeracy intervention groups.
• Supported pupils with Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia, Selective Mutism and Global Developmental Delay.
• Worked alongside teachers to adapt learning and promote confidence and independence.
• Supported PE and Games lessons, leading small groups for additional activities.
• Accompanied pupils to weekly swimming lessons while qualified instructors delivered sessions.
• Accompanied the specialist PE teacher to fixtures, competitions and sporting events.
• Planned and delivered a weekly after-school dance club for approximately 15 pupils.
• Assistant Choreographer and Assistant Director for a production involving over 100 pupils, directing scenes and choreographing routines.
• Successfully planned and taught an assessed dance lesson before being selected as the school's Pre-Prep Curriculum Dance Teacher. The role did not commence following the school's closure.
• Took responsibility for groups of children during wraparound care and school holiday provision, delivering engaging activities and supporting children's wellbeing.
• Accompanied educational visits and residential trips.
