I am an international teacher qualified from Nottingham Trent University. I have a professional certificate in education as well as a BA English Honours (2.1.) I have taught for 7 years both in the Uk and abroad. I have recently finished my contract at a school in Cambridge where I was a Year 5 teacher. Prior to this I taught in Egypt, Qatar and Kuwait.
I am passionate about delivering a stimulating and engaging learning environment for all students to access- no matter their level. Diversifying my lessons has become the norm and I enjoy utilising technology to innovate my lessons. My strengths are time management, differentiation and effective behaviour management. I would describe my behaviour management approach as firm, fair and compassionate. Understanding where the challenging behaviour has originated from is important to resolve the issue.
The planning of my lessons begins by exploring how to deliver the learning intention effectively and what tools I need to utilise to do this. Often I will use physical objects to create a concrete idea in their heads that becomes tactile. As well as this, I create Powerpoints and also use flip charts that the children can interact with to answer questions and progress their learning.
My special skills would include leadership, organisation and communicating effectively. I also employ the use of drama in my English lessons as often this allows the students to immerse themselves in the reading and therefore they can produce even better writing as well. Cross curricular teaching is an approach that I employ regularly. This is effective as the children can understand how all subjects are linked to each other which builds their understanding.
7 years teaching both in the UK and internationally in Kuwait, Qatar and Egypt. I have taught the American and English curriculum. Most of my positions have been in key stage 2 having taught years 3, 4, 5 and 6.
My most recent qualification of professional certificate in education was achieved in 2017 as part of my PGCE in Primary education covering ages 5-11. My bachelor’s is English BA honours where I achieved a 2.1
My As level was Sociology where I got a C. I studied History (C,) Drama (C) and English (B.)
My GCSE’s include double science (A, A), English literature (A,) English language (B,) Maths (B,) statistics (C,) Drama (A,) History (A,) German (B), ICT (Distinction) and COPE (level 2).
