University placement working full time as part of the team
- Secondary spray operator, completed all pre-emergence and T1 as well as some of T0 and T2, and glysophate application
- All round tractor operator. Carting grain, pig/cattle manure, secondary cultivations – including power harrowing, culti-pressing, topping, rolling, fertiliser spreading, bale leading, hedge cutting, grass work including tedding and rowing up. Using GPS systems on the sprayer, combine and tractors
- Experience combining winter wheat, ploughing, subsoiling, drilling, driving a crawler, slug pelleting
- Working with cattle, feeding, bedding, daily checks, worming/flying, calving and mucking out
- General farm work, such as loading grain lorries, fencing, machinery maintenance, estate management
- Safe working if by myself or as part of a team, looking after new staff or part time staff, checks on machines and building to make sure it is safe for people and animals. Night checks whilst cattle were calving as well as assisting if needed
Farm worker at CJC Lee (2019-09 – 2020-09)
College 150 hour placement & full time work during COVID 19
- Driving large tractors on the road while carting compost, pig muck, grain and sugar beet
- Small amount of cultivations work such as subsoiling and uni-pressing. Muck spreading with pig muck and compost
- Rolled behind the drill, transporting and refilling the fertiliser spreader
- Serviced and maintained tractors and telescopic handlers, for example a 6215R and JCB's. Removed hydraulic pipes from the trailer and fed them back though the trailer chassis
- Loading lorries with grain, soil and compost, using a JCB telescopic handler
