I am outgoing, confident and always eager to challenge myself with new experiences and opportunities. I am an experienced team leader, working in both small groups and large groups, working with children and through my sporting activities with my peers. I quickly develop relationships with my peers and those in my teams that aid me to perform my role as a leader or team member.
I am highly adaptable and versatile in my approaches. During my time working with children, I helped mentor the students to build on their confidence levels as well as assisting development through “skill-based problems” such as Physical Education, where it included working with each other and helping them to communicate.
I was placed at a College as a trainee teacher where I was tasked with taking on various modules. In this time, I had to quickly get to know the curriculum as well as some modules I have had previously no experience with. I spent time revising and teaching myself modules in order to be the best facilitator of learning.
I have also learned a range of admin skills within this through marking, lesson planning, how the IV process works, retrieval practice to ensure learners are getting the most out of my lessons. I have accumulated over 100 hours experience within this area and have learnt many skills along the way. I have learnt to effectively put contingencies in place when things do not always go smoothly, this is something that I have learnt and put in to practice on numerous times.
I have built-up a good rapport with students to make the learning environment as positive as possible. Throughout this time, I have grown with confidence and ready to take on any challenge that teaching poses me with, and I am ready to inspire the next generation. I have since taken on the role of a sports studies lecturer, teaching across Sports Science and Public Services.
I have a vast amount of knowledge as well as the ability to retain and take on new challenges, especially in areas I would consider a weakness. I have learned to adapt quickly to ever changing environments and still perform to the best of my ability. Since becoming a full-time lecturer, I have had to overcome many different barriers with unfamiliar modules and different bodies of students.
I also course manage Level 2 Public Services and Level 3 Sports Science, taking on a more administrative role by tracking attendance, English and Maths attendance and communication, communicating with parents via email/phone/parents evening, checking retention and attainment. I believe this has equipped to multitask and organise more effectively between my teaching and tutor role. I have also taught on different qualifications such as YMCA, VTCT in Gym Instructing and Sports Massage therapy and therefore shows I am versatile and able to link practical to theory well.
