I am currently a Case Administrator within the National Probation Service, where I support 2 Probation Officers and 3 Probation Service Officers to carry out their role on a daily basis. It is a highly demanding, mentally challenging position, where I assist Probation Officers to manage and track as many as up to 200 to 250 people on Probation at any one time. This involves a large number of office duties and tasks including writing letters, photocopying, scanning in documents and uploading to databases, sending emails, monitoring Unpaid Work attendance, liaising with external agencies such as the HM Police Force, Women’s Centres and Laboratories to confirm drug test results, amongst terminating orders and setting up breaches of orders to send to court and recalling offenders to prison.
This role requires a very high level of organisational skills and delivering at pace. We require excellent I.T skills in order to carry out our role effectively and so therefore, I am proficient in using Word, Excel and Teams. We use several systems simultaneously, including the Police National Computer, nDelius, (the National Database that is used throughout the Ministry of Justice), OASys, which holds highly confidential custody records and risks of self-harm, and Scramnet, the system used to monitor electronic curfew/alcohol monitoring tags.
The use of a diary is essential to our role as this creates job lists for the day-to-day tasks and allows us to plan at least 6 months in advance.
On a personal level, I am fully adaptable and attentive to the needs of any business. I have a keen eye for detail and have strong communication skills, both verbally and written. I am able to prioritise effectively in order to meet targets in performance and management and I am openly receptive to any training which will enhance my career further.
