As a student, both chess and basketball are hobbies I often invest my time into whenever I am not studying. Basketball has helped to improve my ability to work in a team, especially with those with varying personalities and tendencies. It has also meant I often meet and play along with individuals I am only meeting for the first time, improving my ability to analyse team members’ strengths quickly and how best they work in our system.
Chess, on the other hand, has refined my patience, ability to read others and to be calculated with each action as every decision can have irreversible effects. This mindset applies in a business also which produces caution in my acts, drawing out my attentiveness.
