Licensed Occupational Therapist (DHA/HCPC) – UK & UAE Experience
I am a licensed Occupational Therapist with diverse experience across health and social care settings in both the UK and UAE. My background includes physical rehabilitation, post-acute hospital care, inpatient and outpatient mental health services, and community-based support for neurodivergent adults.
Currently, I work as part of Dubai’s first private inpatient mental health team, contributing to a multidisciplinary approach to mental health care. My clinical interests include trauma-informed practice, neurodiversity-affirming interventions, and the integration of occupational therapy within holistic mental health treatment.
Full continuum of care in physical health settings across the UK. My background includes work in respiratory care, general medicine, rehabilitation, and palliative care across acute, subacute, and community environments.
In mental health, I have worked in both private and government-funded psychiatric hospitals in UAE/UK, delivering ward-based interventions and community therapeutic groups focused on anxiety management and substance misuse.
I have also supported adults in the community with mild to profound learning disabilities, developing a nuanced understanding of cognitive, emotional, social, and communication needs. Before qualifying as an OT, I volunteered at Project Search, a highly regarded evidence-based program helping young people with learning disabilities and autism transition into sustainable employment. This experience solidified my passion for occupational therapy and gave me early insight into the impact of socio-economic inequality on health disparities.
This diverse clinical exposure has allowed me to develop a uniquely holistic approach to occupational therapy—supporting individuals not just with their physical needs but also in overcoming social and environmental barriers to participation.
One of my proudest achievements has been leading a Quality Improvement (QI) project in an acute mental health setting, which led to a role as Project Manager. The initiative focused on developing a dedicated physical health pathway to ensure individuals detained under the Mental Health Act had streamlined access to essential physical health services—a vital step toward integrated, equitable care.
