I worked at Crisis, the award winning homeless charity in Community and Events. I was responsible for checking all incoming emails to the department so that they were answered immediately. It was important to check the inbox as soon as I started work in the morning so that we did not have any outstanding emails and so that we were recognised as an efficient department who understood that our supporters should be looked after and that we understood the importance of why supporters supported Crisis and that it was important to deal with donations immediately as Crisis relied on funding.
It was important to treat supporters with respect and let them know how important they were to us by responding immediately and letting them know that we are always on hand when they need help with fudraising ideas. It also meant hat as a team we understood what our workload was each day and could effectively plan our day. I was expected to make a decision on answering the emails or forwarding them on to my colleagues and how I find out the answers and how I would manage my workload each day.
I offered ideas to fundraisers who wanted to fundraise for Crisis. I sent fundraising packs and donation tins to fundraisers and I offered to assist them with Virgin and Justgiving fundraising pages. So that they could use the pages for fundraising. I offered tips on fundraising including how to make sure that you have regular exercise before fundraising and that you should not be thirsty and should be healthy and to make sure that your breathing is right.
Fundraisers often had last minute nerves and I offered advice on how to stay calm or deal with last minute thoughts of being able to adjust to the new situation of fundraising by offering practical advice on how to deal with the situation and how to prioritise tasks and what needed to be done for a successful fundraising event.
I have experience in Human Resources. Recruitment and training. I advertised vacancies, I sent out application forms. I screened candidates and let the line manager know who was applying with a list that I had selected for interview.
I sent out letters inviting candidates to the interview. I interviewed the candidates along side the duty Manager and I sent letters to the successful and unsuccessful candidates. I held the contracts of employment.
I was responsible for the induction and advising new staff of safety and how we operated to look after our customers and ensure we were safe at all times.
I dealt with starters and leavers.
I have completed a NVQ1 for Teaching Assistant
