I have a deep passion for the health and future of our earth. I was elected to be a Podcast Co-Ordinator FOR PIEL (Public Interest Environmental Law) 2021-22. In this role, I worked in a three-person team to organise and run the podcast sector of the team . the responsibilities that were given to me included planning detailed episodes which concerned environmentalism and law , communicating and contacting guest speakers to appear on their given episodes, record episodes in a professional manner and edit the episodes to a high standard In 2020, I was one of the significant organisers of the BLM protest that occurred in Milton Keynes last year.
I contacted and communicated with not only prominent speakers regarding BLM but with the public, organising when the protest would occur and giving them necessary information that they needed. The team and I also wrote various social media posts/ stories on our social medias that helped people learn about BLM and articulate their voices and experiences
I deeply enjoy advocacy and debating, therefore during my time at the University of Reading, I have participated in various mooting competitions. Partaking in these competitions, I have developed resilience, court etiquette, oral and written advocacy skills, confidence, preparatory skills (learning to put together skeleton arguments and e-bundles), and research with cases ranging from occupiers’ liability to criminal procedure and acting as counsel for both appellants and respondents.
By working in heavily based customer service roles, I have learned valuable lessons about customer service skills , how to run a business and improved my financial and technology skills but most importantly I developed my interpersonal skills as I had to communicate with a wide range of customers, staff on a consistent basis.
Above all else, I have a strong desire to learn and grow, to maximise my skills and experiences
