Experience

Support Worker at SK Cleaning and Caring Services (2025- – Present)

Provided domestic help, companionship, and personal care entirely tailored to what each client wants and needs. My main role has been to support in devising care plans and risk assessments and supporting a colleague to interview, screen and give advice on what candidates would fit each role. Advisory role for new support staff and allocating mandatory training.

SEND Teaching Assistant at Outwood Academy Carlton (2025-01 – 2025-06)

Delivered 1:1 support shaped entirely around the student's interests, abilities and emotional needs- helping them feel safe and successful. Being that support network for the child's emotional wellbeing, validating their feelings and helping them to understand why they may be feeling overwhelmed. I have experience in supporting a 'looked after' child who is estranged from their family, often taking part in meetings with family members, keeping an objective viewpoint.

Using CBT/DBT strategies to de-escalate situations without punishment, always prioritizing the student's emotional safety and long-term wellbeing. Contributed to EHCPs and risk assessments, ensuring every plan reflected their voice, hopes and right to participate. Mentored new staff specifically to help them understand that the young person's experience and the feelings are the most important thing.

Senior Safeguarding Administrator at Wakefield Council (2024-09 – 2024-12)

Supervised a team of administrators and support staff, with a clear mandate: every referral, every record, and every action exists to protect vulnerable children and families. Coached the team to work quickly, accurately and sensitively – teaching them that delays or errors in paperwork could directly impact a child's safety and wellbeing. Held regular supervision to reinforce that their work was vital to keeping people safe.

Managed the high-volume safeguarding gateway inbox, ensuring no referral was overlooked or delayed- every message was logged, tracked and actioned immediately as it could relate to someone at risk. Maintained meticulous, secure records so that the resident or family's story, needs and wishes were always clear to the professionals supporting them. Streamlined processes to reduce stress for families and ensure help reaches those in need.

Ensured i followed all governance and safeguarding guidelines, policies and procedures, following all policies and procedures to align directly with the ASEND child protection statutory requirements. Being present in meetings supporting the chair, minute taking on decisions going forward on what is the best decision going forward in regards to the safeguarding of the child.

Office Administrator at Springfield (2023-06 – 2023-12)

Ran all office operations with one goal: to create a smooth, safe environment where resident's needs are met without disruption. Managed payroll, timesheets and personnel records to ensure staff were properly paid correctly and on time because happy, supported staff deliver better and more attentive care. Deputy Manager at Stockingate Care Home (2023 – 2023)

Co-led the home with a culture where every decision, from rotas to policies, is tested against one question: is this what is best for our residents? My main priority was to ensure that the residents had a happy and fulfilled lifestyle, ensuring staff would treat them with dignity and respect, and engaged, when possible, in daily activities. Managed up to 50 care, support and admin staff.

Recruited, trained, and developed a team specifically chosen for their kindness, empathy and dedication to person-centered values. Reduced turnover and built a loyal team who genuinely care about the people they supported. Being the lead with recruitment alongside my manager- carrying out CR checks, onboarding and applying for DBS checks.

Being the first point of contact for staff, being in an advisory role, approachable and uplifting them when they felt like they were struggling, giving them lots of reassurance and positive feedback to continue to carry out their role to their full potential.

Manager at Achieve Together (2017 – 2023)

Supporting young adults with a range of special and complex needs including ASD, Learning disabilities and trauma backgrounds, or people with challenging behaviors. My role was to support the residents' wellbeing and having an unconditional positive regard to behaviors that may challenge themselves, staff and their environment. I started out as a support worker caring for five residents with differing mental health needs.

I worked closely with them and built-up excellent person-centered support, learning their likes and dislikes as well as their triggers. Writing person centred care/PBS plans with the input from family members and the resident if deemed to have the capacity to do so. I ensured they had a fulfilled life enjoying activities they love and supporting them with family contact and appointments.

Working in mental health has given me core skills and insight into emotional wellbeing, therapeutic approaches and staying calm in challenging situations. Vast knowledge of dealing with staffing issues and providing support to staff. This included grievance and disciplinary matters, conflict management, leading mediation meetings, monitoring staff absence and sickness, and fully supporting them through work or home related situations and reducing the strain on their work performance as their well-being in work is detrimental to their ability to perform high standards of care.

Building strong relationships and being the first point of contact. Managing and maintaining all relevant policies and procedures and updating when required, ensuring all staff were kept current and competent with legislation. Designed bespoke care plans, risk assessments and DoLS applications that were written in the residents best interest and conditions and restrictions were agreed with family members, local authority and other external input, also residents input when deemed to have capacity to do so guaranteeing highly person centred care and best interests are first and foremost.

Carried out regular monthly audits, medication, health and safety, care planning, risk assessing and so forth ensuring all aligned with care plans. Led CQC preparation, and achieved and maintained a 'Good' rating. Delivered medication and clinical care with explanation and reassurance.

Kept detailed notes so that changes in mood, health or preference were spotted early and acted upon. Liaising with external agencies as required and attending review meetings as appropriate. Ensuring compliance with the CQC management policies and procedures and making sure that all staff within their controls are fully briefed and can implement them.

I had to effectively manage the team performance, delivering regular supervisions and feedback or discipline where necessary. I prided myself with having an open door policy with staff, being approachable and ensuring their needs were met. Alongside my manager i was the first point of contact for all end-end recruitment, from the interview stage to offer of employment, making sure they felt fully supported welcoming them into the team during their induction process and all mandatory training was completed and shadow shifts were carried out so they were comfortable and confident before starting their new role.
