I have worked in the education sector for the last 25 years. Before that I worked on sites around the country as a plasterer and carpenter as I am level 3 in both of these trades. I am married with 4 Daughters
When I left school I enrolled in a local college of building on a twelve month course and at the end of that I began working with my uncle who was a plasterer on site and after around 3 years I was ready to go on my own so for the next 10 years I worked all over the country as a plasterer and learned other trades . In this time I gained an NVQ level 3 in plastering and site carpentry. This allowed me to work on site as a carpenter and plasterer.
I decided to enter education and gained a A1 assessors award and took a job at NSPP , a training center in Glossop AS AN NVQ Assessor. This involved visiting sites round the country to gain evidence eg, pictures ,videos, voice recordings for witness testimonies, professional discussions and answering the knowledge questions. I had a caseload of around 30 candidates at any one time.
These candidates were experienced workers such as bricklayers,plasterers,painters,fenestration, external wall cladders, carpenters and site supervisors . I placed the evidence in their electronic portfolios which was Quals direct. I have also worked as an assessor for other colleges and used one file and smart assessor portfolios.
My last position was at Bolton College where i was in charge of the plastering and bricklaying apprentices . I visited site to gather the evidence and when the portfolios were 100% booked their end point assessment. I have never had a fail at these.
