Educator with 7 years of experience in a diverse urban school district. Recently completed post as a Behaviour Strategist, overseeing school-wide behavioural needs and leading staff to best Social Emotional Learning (SEL) and classroom management practices. Taught 4 years as a classroom teacher across 3 grades (P3, P4, P6).
Obtained head teacher license in 2022 for Iowa and have diverse leadership experience. Returned to East Ayrshire, Scotland in March 2025 and am currently seeking a teaching position or one that involves working with children.
Behaviour Strategist (Primary School) Taught three grade levels over four years, adapting to new curricula and Professional Learning Communities (PLCs). (2) Evolved teaching practices by making data-driven instructional decisions and providing impactful pedagogical support for all pupils. (3) Developed positive relationships between pupil families and the school community, fostering strong classroom communities across diverse pupil makeup. (4) Demonstrated effective classroom management and support for pupils with behavioural needs, leading to the role of Behaviour Strategist.
Primary Teacher: Led frequent professional development for all staff on social emotional learning, self-regulation, and de-escalation, involving approximately 50 staff members. (2) Identified pupils needing Tier 2/3 behaviour support, provided direct SEL instruction, monitored progress using data, and adjusted support as needed. (3) Direct on-call support to pupils escalated or in crisis. Supported all pupils PK-5 (Aged 4-11). Many of these pupils include those with behaviour disabilities who have an Individualized Education Program (IEPs). (4) Worked closely with the deputy head teacher and head teacher, stepping in as the stand-in head teacher when they were out of the building.
