I have recently retired from a 38-year career in the railway industry. I’m friendly, people-focussed and reliable with a gift for writing and talking about my experiences, which I think could translate well spending time with guests and residents, telling them about a lifetime spent on the railway, with many a story to tell. I am able to easily adapt my communication skills to make them suitable for each guest and / or team member.
Working within a busy railway station environment for 20 years, team working skills were paramount to ensure all aspects of the job were covered. More recently, having spent 18 years working in an office-based role, those skills came in very useful, with my extensive experience in front line customer service and delivering results helping me to understand how and where things sat within the role.
I am confident in building positive relationships and communicating with different people, where I would hope to be able to make a real difference to their day.
