About
Junior software engineer with contract experience shipping full-stack features in Go and Next.js on a live platform, alongside independent systems and security research in Rust and C++. Discovered and responsibly disclosed CVE-2026-51585, a critical Windows driver vulnerability, with a fully documented reverse-engineering methodology. Comfortable owning problems from investigation through to production.
Experience
Independent Systems & Security Research - Independent Research
(2026-04 - 2026-06)
- Discovered and responsibly disclosed a critical unvalidated IOCTL handler in the Realtek PCIe GbE Windows driver enabling arbitrary physical memory access; assigned CVE-2026-51585.
- Documented a bypass of two static driver security guards through state manipulation and registry-value analysis to reach the vulnerable memory-mapping code path.
- Built a reproducible C++23 proof-of-concept with a fully annotated IDA Pro methodology covering guard checks, MDL allocation patterns, and memory-mapping call chains.
- Reverse-engineered NIC descriptor-ring behaviour in hardware loopback mode, confirming the memory primitive across multiple affected Realtek adapter models.
Frontend & Backend Contractor - Socl.gg
(2025-01 - 2025-04)
- Implemented a production OAuth2 authorisation-code flow in Go supporting GitHub, Discord, and Google identity providers, with secure token exchange and provider-agnostic session management.
- Unified heterogeneous identity-provider schemas into a single permission model with consistent access mapping across providers.
- Built a real-time profile editor in Next.js and TypeScript with optimistic UI updates and server-side conflict resolution for concurrent edits.
- Delivered the complete authentication system within the first four weeks of a three-month contract, then continued shipping full-stack features for the remainder of the engagement.
Education
BSc - Computer Science and Information Technology - University of Galway (2025-09 - 2029-05)
