About

I am an editor, writer, proofreader and author with more than 30 years' experience in business publishing.

I am currently a freelancer, having recently worked full time at IDC, a leading market research and events consultancy, where I edited and proofread everything from 200-page industry and vertical reports to white papers, blogs, press releases and conference/custom event material. The documents covered a range of industries and sectors, including health, IT, finance, banking, and government, and in Word, PowerPoint and Excel formats.

Before I joined IDC, I worked for a number of trade and business-to-business publishers, including Platt's/McGraw-Hill and Global Sources.

I have also written for the likes of The Guardian and The Times (sports and film reviews), among others.

I live in the northeast of England and have worked from home for the past 15 years. I am a voracious reader and I'm passionate about the English language. In my spare time I write fiction. My short-story collection, You're Not Supposed to Cry, was published by Vagabond Voices in 2017.

Write, edit, rewrite and proofread English-language market research and consulting documents covering the worldwide information technology, telecommunications and consumer technology markets. This covers the health, energy, government, banking and financial sectors, and everything from 200- page research documents to white papers, press releases, blogs and custom event reports. • Edit and rewrite for meaning, working mainly with non-native English speakers to hone their text for an international audience. • Enforce the company's branding, style guidelines and research architecture. • Lead other members of the editorial team on style and grammar issues. • Maintain the company's in-house style guide. • Provide online and face-to-face training for analysts and other editors, helping them to create documents in the company's research templates and advising them on style and grammar matters.
