Recovery Truck Driver - Edgertons Recovery - Lymm Services
(2017 - 2017)
Driving a 12 tonne De-mount flatbed MAN recovery truck doing a wide variety of work for the police and for the public. Recovering broken down vehicles and some vehicles involved in RTCs. The work was varied and interesting and I enjoyed the contact with the public.
LGV Driver - Brit European Transporting
(2018 - 2018)
Transporting JCB products to the port of Southampton. Employed for about six months. Found this job very repetitive and a bit dull to be honest loading and tipping at the same place was not very interesting.
Tanker Driver - Abbey Tankers - Tata Northwich
(2018 - 2020)
Working 4 on 4 off transporting sodium products all over the country. This job was varied and interesting I was always interested how the product I was delivering was used at various other end users as diverse as British Nuclear Fuels at Windscale to British Sugar and most Power Stations and Glass Manufacturers in the U.K. I worked at Abbey for just over 14 months.
I left this employment as the Pandemic had taken hold and I felt that not enough was being done to protect drivers and their families in terms of cleanliness of the working environment.
Fridge Delivery Driver - Culina Market Drayton - Market Drayton
(2020 - 2020)
Delivering dairy produce to RDC's and factories and end users. I was at this company for a short time as the work really did not suit at all there was far too much time wasted sitting on bays and waiting to be unloaded. I was pleased to land this role as the criteria to be accepted was very high and is noted within the industry as such.
Class 2 Delivery Driver - Huws Gray
(2020 - 2021)
Delivering bricks and blocks timber and all manner of building materials to building sites and to DIY builders at home. To carry out my duties as a delivery driver it was necessary to become proficient in the use of a HIAB lorry loader. I gained the qualification to use the equipment safely and proficiently. I enjoyed this job unfortunately I missed the class 1 and also did not like the slow down in the winter months. The professional builders still needed materials but obviously not as much.
Tanker Driver - Powders - Abbey Tankers
(2021 - 2026)
Returned to Abbey Tankers powders again working 4 on 4 off. There were significant changes as the company had been bought out by Sitra so the culture was different. The yard was significantly smaller and the loading protocols had changed and the locations also.
Loading for Soda Ash was at Liverpool docks in a large shed with the truck and tank being reversed through the door into the shed along with the JCB loader the hopper and the conveyor and the sock that fitted inside the tank lid. The issue with this was that as soon as the loader picked up the soda ash it became air borne. Although respirators and masks were provided to minimise the contamination it still remained a dirty job.
It was impossible to negate the powder contaminating the truck. I have had a few rashes and discomfort from exposure to the sodium. I found this to be more and more unacceptable to me.
