SEMH Teaching Assistant

I began as a SEN teaching assistant in a secondary school working closely with students in lessons and picking up extra off the job mentoring sessions with a student in care and another student with SEMH challenges. I worked in a SEN team which was rated at 'Good' from Ofsted. After this I moved onto working as a SEMH teaching assistant working in the Learning Inclusion Centre (LINC) with my manager until they left, where I then picked up extra responsibilities in running the LINC and managing the students.
I coordinated with students, families, outside agencies and the senior leadership team to put a plan in place to ensure the students can access school. During my time as a SEMH teaching assistant I have visited a number of alternative provisions (with and without students under my care) to have an insight into how they work and can benefit the students.
