I am a dynamic and determined individual who has navigated a unique path to professional success, demonstrating resilience and adaptability along the way. I am confident that my diverse skill set, coupled with my unique journey, positions me as a valuable asset to any organisation seeking an individual who can bring a fresh perspective and a proven track record of success. I have recently graduated university with a First Class Honours degree, and I am ready for my next challenge.
Throughout my career I have worked in a range of professions, from roles in Trainee Management to Community Development, as well as time spent playing professional and semi-professional football.
Throughout my professional career I have navigated many diverse challenges and settings. To begin, I worked as a Trainee Manager at Enterprise Rent-A-Car. In this role gained a lot of new and valuable skills, including customer relations, planning and management of schedules, and liaison with business partners and stakeholders.
Another key part of this role involved problem-solving and adaptability to issues, to maintain time efficiency and ensure deliveries were made on time. I then decided I wanted to further my education and joined University.
After attaining this degree, I worked as a Community Development Worker for Aberdeenshire Council. In this position, I provided personalised one-to-one learning support to individuals striving to achieve SQA qualifications or personal growth. I had duties to organise and lead community development events aimed at fostering lifelong learning and social inclusion, these included Outdoor Learning and ICT sessions.
Additionally, I worked with individuals in prison, offering educational opportunities and guidance to help them attain qualifications and realise their potential.
Another part of my professional success is playing professional and semi-professional football. Since turning 17, I have played senior football at a semi-professional level. This has been across league 2, Lowland league, and East of Scotland.
The high demands of this role alongside work and studies requires a lot of dedication, discipline, and a strong work ethic. This experience gave me many transferrable skills for my career, such as the ability to perform well under pressure, a high-level of communication, and leadership qualities, as well as a drive for excellence.
In 2023 I gained my degree, graduating with a First-Class Honours in Community Education. This experience helped me develop many skills, including the ability to be given tasks and complete these to a high-standard, and my dedication to personal and professional growth. This is shown through my final dissertation in which I received a final GDP of 3.5, highlighting my ability to complete tasks I am given to an extremely high-level.
Although my degree was in Education, it is my belief that the knowledge and skills I have gained from this highly resonate with many different roles within organisation. Such as many interpersonal skills, including empathy, patience, and the ability to build relationships. These skills are vital for creating a positive work environment, understanding team dynamics, and fostering collaboration in a future managerial or team leader role.
Another important quality developed through this Education course is my commitment to continuous improvement and lifelong learning, I believe this mindset is valuable in management, where striving for organisational improvement and ensuring staff development is key.
