Tom Dexter

I am a results-orientated, engaging, socially aware graduate with a First Class Masters Degree, which has led my interest into working in the wider corporate world. I am now looking for a challenging position where my skills and interests can be fully utilised and further enhanced.

During April-May 2023 I worked as an Intern with Rostrum, who specialise in working with financial, technology and professional services firms. In this role, I was responsible for writing articles and press releases, contacting potential clients and researching then composing reports on a wide range of current affairs topics. The role varied from day to day and was fast paced, which allowed me to further develop my organisational, communication and writing skills.

For my industrial placement during university, I was Trainee Assistant Manager at a large gym. I liked the dynamic environment and the contact with customers. I grasped the opportunity to take responsibility for ensuring a good environment for the users and became a central point of contact for many issues and people.

There were also some difficult situations, including one where I intervened to protect another team member and the intruder attacked me. I took control of the situation, which was a valuable lesson in conflict management.

Last year I earned a first class master's degree in International Management from the University of Bath. My dissertation – “Cul-de-sac or Highway? Analysing the experience of women in the technology industry” was also marked as a First (75%). I also have an undergraduate degree from Bournemouth University.
