Teaching is my passion. I am a highly motivated, dedicated and passionate individual with a newly acquired CELTA qualification, actively seeking an ESOL role. I am an excellent communicator and a quick learner, with essential subject knowledge and a strong grasp of the principles of effective teaching. I posses a diverse range of practical skills in teaching English to adult learners and have demonstrated the ability to apply these in real-world teaching contexts while completing a CELTA course. I bring practical experience in embedding English, Maths and ICT into learning programs, gained through my work in ESOL lessons working as a Teaching Support Assistant. I have a deep understanding of equality issues and their impact on adult learning, and I am a strongly committed to safeguarding and creating a safe, inclusive learning environment for all students. I am also eager to undertake further training to solidify and expand my knowledge, ensuring I remain at the forefront of effective teaching practices. My knowledge and passion for education make me a strong candidate for supporting and enhancing student learning experiences.
In my current role as a Teaching Support Assistant, I have gained extensive experience working with a diverse range of learners, including those with special educational needs. This role has allowed me to develop and refine my communication skills, enabling me to converse with ease and provide effective help and advice in accurate and influential spoken English. I understand that effective communication is not just about language proficiency but also about empathy, patience, and the ability to connect with learners on a personal level. This understanding has been particularly important when supporting students who may struggle with traditional learning methods.
One of the most rewarding aspects of my work has been supporting ESOL students with special needs. I have learned to break down complex tasks into smaller, manageable parts, making it easier for these students to grasp the material. For example, I have worked closely with students who required additional support with spelling, reading comprehension, and understanding complex grammar rules. By breaking down lessons into more digestible chunks and providing consistent, individualized support, I have been able to help these students overcome significant challenges and achieve their learning goals.
My experience has also made me acutely aware of the equality issues that can impact adult learning, particularly in community settings. I recognize that adult learners often face a variety of barriers, including cultural differences, language barriers, and past negative experiences with education. These challenges can have a profound impact on their ability to engage with learning, which is why I am committed to creating an inclusive and supportive environment where all students feel safe, respected, and empowered to learn. I believe that understanding and addressing these equality issues is crucial to fostering an environment where every student can succeed, regardless of their background or circumstances.
My CELTA qualification (Level 5) provides me with a solid foundation in the principles of effective English language teaching, which I am eager to apply in a teaching role where I can make a meaningful impact on students' lives.
