I have recently achieved a 2:1 in History at Durham University, graduating in 2023. I took pride in being an active part of the wider university community, taking part in various sports and societies. My time at university increased my time management skills in adhering to deadlines, and most significantly, to work independently.
I also believe that my involvement has supported my ability to work in groups and understand different perspectives. Whilst working as a team member at Slug and Lettuce at university, I was promoted to a senior member. This gave me a position of responsibility for ensuring the team worked coherently, which has strengthened my leadership and communication skills.
My time in a leadership role also supported my ability to confidently assert myself. Furthermore, I was voted by my peers as team player, showing that I am hard working and enjoy a challenge. Before moving to South Korea in 2024, I completed my 120-hour TEFL teaching course.
I have thoroughly enjoyed the enriching experience so far of living and teaching here, and am grateful for the opportunity to explore the country's cuisine, history, and culture. I currently teach kindergarten and elementary school children at Poly across varying English language abilities. I have learned to adapt my teaching style depending on the ability of the children, such as making gestures, and utilising different tones and repetition.
I believe that every child in the classroom should feel comfortable, confident, and enjoy their English learning experience.
