Expert in materials corrosion and inspection. Main experience in oil and gas, over 20 years.
Run and manage corrosion, materials selection and inspection for onshore and offshore oil and gas FEED and EPC projects for various operators. Lead team of engineers (including senior and lead) and NDT engineers. Writing, check and review, technical and commercial aspects of proposal bids and project reports.
Present projects to major oil and gas operating managers for final acceptance. Projects outlined in cv involve application of standards; API 571 Damage Mechanisms, API 579 FFS, API 580 RBI, API 581 RBI Technology, DNV RP F101 Corroded Pipelines, NACE Sour Service 0175/ISO 15156 H2S Cracking Parts 1, 2, 3, Petronas Standards(PTS) and NORSOK Materials Selection M001.
Many projects have involved materials selection and verification, done by considering all damage mechanisms including environmental cracking depending on fluid chemistry and process conditions. In projects materials selected and verified include mild steels, high strength steels, austenitic stainless steels, duplex stainless steels and cladding. Coatings for corrosion and fire protection have also been selected such as epoxy coatings, coating for CUI, polyurethane-polyurea hybrid coatings; selection also based on full corrosion assessment, reducing the probability of failure, specifying post weld heat treatment and achieving correct weld hardness to avoid sour service cracking (hydrogen induced cracking, sulphide stress cracking and stress orientated hydrogen induced cracking).
Have used corrosion prediction models such as ECE5.2, Predict 6.0, Norsok and Shell Hydrocor used to support the selection and verification. Corrosion prediction performed for early and late production stages for optimal materials selection. This involved collection of relevant input data, fluid chemistry, production data and material data In addition have onshore/offshore mitigation experience, injection of corrosion inhibitors, scavengers, biocides and scaling inhibitors, with specification of ideal injection points, dosages, assessment and review of mitigation data and strategy; used Saudi Aramco Standard SAES-L-133, Corrosion Protection Requirements for Pipelines, Piping and Process Equipment.
This standard also used to construct materials selection diagrams
