I hold a PhD in Computer Science with a specialization in Natural Language Processing (NLP), complemented by a master’s degree and an engineering degree in the same field. My academic and professional experiences in NLP are diverse, having developed systems for sentiment analysis, customer de-identification, and the extraction of geriatric syndromes and adverse events. These projects, which have been published in international conferences and journals (up to 30 publications), allowed me to design, implement, and evaluate various NLP models.
I have worked extensively with transformer models such as BERT, BioBERT, and ClinicalBERT for Named Entity Recognition (NER), using tools like Pytorch, Keras, Spacy, and FlairNLP, and have fine-tuned large language models to adapt them for customer data.

My professional experience at Aston University, as part of a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP), involved introducing advanced NLP technologies to a business previously using lexicon-based approaches for NER. This role required me to not only develop a commercial-grade system but also use GitLab for efficient project management.
I am also fluent in Arabic, French, and English, having grown up in a multilingual environment and spent the last five years living and working in the UK. My current project involves working with interdisciplinary teams of clinicians, NLP scientists, and sociologists across various work packages, each consisting of at least 10 people from different organisations.
My communication and presentation skills have been honed through presenting my work at international conferences and leading regular project meetings. I have successfully demonstrated the value of NLP in business contexts, convincing stakeholders of its advantages. Additionally, my four years as a lecturer in Algeria further strengthened my ability to convey complex ideas clearly.
I am capable of working both autonomously and as part of interdisciplinary teams. Currently, I am leading the manual annotation of clinical data, which I then use to train models for detecting geriatric syndromes and adverse events. My experience as a researcher has prepared me to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines, whether in academic or commercial settings.
