About

I am a passionate & dedicated education professional with 27 years of experience across a range of teaching and leadership roles, including Teacher, Lecturer, Head of Department and Department Team Leader. In recent years, I have specialised in delivering online Science education to students in alternative provision, many of whom have special educational needs and experience significant barriers to attending mainstream school. This role has deepened my commitment to supporting SEN learners with empathy, adaptability and high expectations.

Working with disengaged and vulnerable students has strengthened my ability to build trust, sustain engagement and tailor learning to individual needs. I have developed a clear understanding of the complex challenges these learners face and use a flexible, student-centred approach to support both academic progress and emotional wellbeing. I bring extensive experience in curriculum planning, differentiation and assessment, underpinned by strong data literacy.

As a departmental leader, I served as Lead Internal Verifier across Levels 1–3 (ABC, BTEC, City & Guilds), ensuring quality and consistency in assessment practice. I am fully conversant with the Education Inspection Framework, particularly the focus on Intent, Implementation and Impact, and I use these principles to inform effective teaching and continuous improvement. I am a strong communicator who works collaboratively with colleagues, parents and external agencies to secure positive outcomes for learners.

My leadership experience includes mentoring staff, driving curriculum innovation and leading departmental improvement strategies. I am now seeking to return to a face-to-face role within a specialist SEN setting, where I can build meaningful relationships with learners and provide the consistent, structured and nurturing support they need to thrive academically, socially and emotionally.
