I have a very good work ethic and put 100% of my energy into everything I do. I am a very quick learner and enjoy new challenges. During my time at university, I have developed very strong organisational and time management skills.
I consistently begin my assignments early to allow time to receive feedback from my lecturers, which have resulted in me receiving results in the top 5% of my year group during my second year. I am very enthusiastic about effective planning, which has allowed me to maintain meticulous notes and a well-structured schedule to stay on top of my workload, and balance my responsibilities.
I currently work at Camp Glide, which is a kids’ camp during school holidays and also an afterschool club in term time. I look after the children, prepare and serve snacks, and lead outdoor sports, craft activities and indoor games. I am often in charge of large groups of children, and have to ensure they all understand the instructions, set them up in to fair teams, and deal with conflicts that arise between them.
This has enabled me to gain valuable teamwork, communication, creativity and quick problem-solving skills which I will take to any workplace or social environment.
I completed a work experience day at an insurance company, where I got to talk to many business professionals within the marketing team, both project and events management team, and claims department. I helped the marketing team organise a lunch event for the whole office, and received positive feedback for demonstrating a very proactive, efficient and well-organised approach, whilst maintaining composure under time pressure.
Prior to 6th form, I worked at Chipstead Golf club for approximately a year as a waitress and dishwasher. During this time, I developed strong customer service skills through taking orders, serving guests, and preparing drinks. The role enhanced my ability to work efficiently under pressure, and communicate effectively with a diverse range of people. It taught me the importance of teamwork and adaptability, which are valuable skills that I bring to any professional setting.
I volunteered for several years as a “Junior Leader” at an annual holiday club at St. Paul’s Church, Nork. Around 200 children attended, and I worked in a small team group alongside an adult with responsibility for a group of 6 to 7 younger children. This experience has been invaluable for teaching me how to communicate within a team, and I really enjoyed the responsibility of looking after kids in a range of ages.
