Finding myself as nurse has been the biggest achievement of my career so far. I always look forward to growing my practice, exploring new evidence-based ways of practice whilst dealing with new challenges. I thrive when working with a team providing shared holistic, person-centered care.
In my free time I attend careers fairs, and work with high school students allowing them to explore and understand what true nursing is. I love teaching and flourish when I’m able to share similar views and compromise when needed.
I have worked within a busy ward setting, within this setting I work to strict time constraints, whilst aiming to deliver the best possible person-centered care. I have within my first few months as a staff nurse worked as nurse in charge dealing with bed management and the needs of working with an interprofessional team.
Within the diabetic ward setting I have worked with patients dealing with chronic illnesses, substance misuse and mental health problems. I’ve had the opportunity to promote health alongside promoting myself and my team’s professionalism. Health promotion is a passion of mine, being able to see patients grow in their dealing with their illness and overcoming different struggles with the help from myself and support from my colleges within the multidisciplinary team feels like the most rewarding achievement.
These are skills I have learned and developed throughout my time studying and as a staff nurse, whilst all skills are required for the job my qualities have been grown since I began my working life, compassion, listening and respectful nature haven’t been learned they are engrained in myself.
