As a board member at Rory Peck Trust & the Committee to Protect Journalists, I contribute to the strategic direction, governance, and advocacy of NGOs that support journalists and their families facing crisis around the world. With over 20 years of leadership in global news, I bring a wealth of experience, insight, and passion to this mission.
I have a proven track record of transforming news broadcasting for the digital age, as the former Managing Director of News and Current Affairs at RTE, Ireland's public news provider. I led a 350-strong news division, overseeing editorial, financial, and people management, and introducing a digital-first strategy that took RTE News to market leadership online and on-air. I also served on RTE's Executive Board, shaping the organisation's overall direction, managing key stakeholder relations, and returning the organisation to financial sustainability.
Prior to RTE, I held senior editorial roles at ABC News and BBC News, where I won multiple awards, including three Emmys, for my coverage of international news stories.
