Waiter / Hotel Porter / Supervisory Role - The new continental

(2015-12)

Working at a high-standard hotel, I've developed a wide range of valuable skills across both front-of-house and guest support roles. Starting as a waiter, I quickly built strong communication and customer service abilities, regularly interacting with guests to ensure an excellent experience. I became confident in dealing with staff shortages and was trusted to take on key responsibilities, including independently running dinner service.

Due to my performance and reliability, I was also offered responsibilities as a hotel porter. In this role, I assist guests with luggage, provide room support, and act as a first point of contact — further strengthening my professionalism, customer care, and problem-solving skills. Both roles have taught me to thrive in a fast-paced environment, work efficiently under pressure, and maintain attention to detail at all times.

Crew Trainer - McDonalds

I worked at McDonalds for a year and here I learnt how to be a leader as I was a crew trainer, which meant I had to train new employees. I learnt new skills such as working under pressure, being reactive to arising issues and adjusting myself to suit the needs of the customer. This really helped me as a person, to learn new things and develop myself within this job. This is where I developed my team work skills.

Football Coach - Plympton Under 8s

(2019-11 - 2020-01)

Due to the success of my schoolwork experience, I was able to take on a voluntary role as a football coach for a local football team for children. Here I was able to demonstrate good communication skills as I taught them about the game, the discipline and teamwork behind it. This requires a great deal of commitment and hard work.

Sports Assistant - Plymouth Argyle

I have completed work experience with Plymouth Argyle as a sports assistant, which gave me my first insight into the world of work. While working with Plymouth Argyle, I learnt very many different skills such as how to talk to a variety of people. I also further expanded my empathy skills and problem-solving skills.

Football Coach - Plymouth Argyle

Within the school holidays I volunteered to support Plymouth Argyle Community Trust Team with the engagement of football within the local community. This was extremely successful which resulted in a job offer, sadly due to COVID-19 I was not able to pursue this.
