Business Administration Assistant with a passion for animal welfare and canine behaviour

I currently work for Associate Development Solutions (ADS) as a Business Administration Assistant. In my role I have a responsibility to assist my manager with all administrative tasks across all the courses, services and projects in the business. Whilst in my role I have completed a Business Administration Level 3 BTEC diploma and achieved a distinction.
I have a passion for dogs, and I am actively trying to pursue a career with them. I have a BSc (Hons) in Canine Behaviour Management and an FdSc in Canine Behaviour and Training. I have had a passion for dogs my whole life and have always wanted to have a long career with them.
I have previously worked for Lincolnshire Rescue Kennels, Meg Heath Kennels and Guide Dogs for the Blind. I consider myself passionate about animal welfare and improving the lives of animals. I have a particular interest in behaviour and enrichment.
In my spare time I enjoy gardening, charity shopping and spending time with my rescue Border Terrier, Fig.
Business Administration Assistant at Associate Development Solutions (ADS) November 2022- Present
I currently work at ADS as a Business Administration Assistant. My role is very varied but generally includes supporting my manager with administrative tasks, updating course documents for the smooth running and delivery of courses, inputting data, updating databases, creating organisational systems for the continued organisation of the business and general admin support for my colleagues and the business as a whole.

I have previously worked at Lincoln County Court as an Administrative Assistant and Court Clerk. These roles gave me experience of the court system and allowed me to gain knowledge of clerking. The responsibilities and tasks of my role were diverse, but my main duties generally included:
Customer Service Agent at Sensée June 2022 – September 2022
I have previously worked for Sensée as a customer service agent on the AA project. My role was to ring up customers who had previously purchased break down cover to advise them of offers and try and get them to renew their membership. This role involved learning and following different scripts, active listening skills, customer service skills and selling skills.
Delivery Driver at Simple Treats October 2020 – June 2022
I have previously worked for Simple Treats as a Delivery Driver. My role included: ensuring orders were correct for delivery, ensuring deliveries were completed on time, liaising with kitchen staff to update on order/delivery status, completing car safety checks, ensuring the kitchen was kept clean and organised, speaking to customers and offering support to kitchen staff. I balanced this role with my role as a Collections Driver at Royal Mail.
Postal Worker and Collections Driver at Royal Mail October 2020 – June 2022
I started working for Royal Mail in October 2020 as a postal worker had different routes each week to learn, and the job involved organising and sorting letters and parcels, preparing routes and delivering mail both on foot and driving. Following this, I moved into collections where my role involved learning different collection routes, meeting timing deadlines, completing van safety checks, collecting post from businesses, post offices, post boxes and individuals, liaising with businesses and maintaining working relationships with customers.
Delivery Driver at Waitrose & Partners August 2020 – October 2020
I have previously worked as a Delivery Driver for Waitrose. This role was challenging as I was delivering in Nottingham, an area that I was unfamiliar with which allowed me to develop my navigational skills. This role gave me a sense of responsibility as I completed routes independently which meant there was pressure to ensure I was delivering orders on time to meet the needs of the customer. The role included duties such as:
Delivery and Collections Driver at DPD May 2020 – August 2020 (Temporary Position)
I previously worked for DPD as a Delivery Driver completing collections and deliveries. This role was only temporary during busy periods and I was hired by the recruitment agency Adecco. The role included collecting parcels from businesses, delivering parcels, liaising with businesses and customers, completing van safety checks, driving different types/sizes of vans and completing all paperwork associated with the delivery or collection.
Customer Service Assistant at The Old Village Store March 2019 – March 2020
I have previously worked as a Customer Service Assistant at a local village store.
My role included tasks such as: serving customers, maintaining customer relationships, using the till, cash handling, updating the computer system to ensure product details were up to date, stock taking, date checking, organising customers paper bill payments, general upkeep and cleaning of the store, arranging parcels to be collected and assisting the owner/manager with other duties. Unfortunately, this role came to an end when the owner decided to retire and close the shop.
Dog Care and Welfare Assistant at Guide Dogs for the Blind Association October 2018 – December 2018
I have previously worked at Guide Dogs as a Care and Welfare Assistant. I looked after the dogs that were in the early stages of training whilst they were at the kennels. My role included general kennel duties such as cleaning and sanitising the kennels and outdoor runs, cleaning the outdoor play areas and ensuring the centre was kept clean and tidy.
The role also involved performing daily health checks on the dogs, grooming and handling. The role also involved ensuring the dogs mental and physical welfare needs were met which generally involved keeping up with their basic training, ensuring the dogs were taken out for exercise and organising mental stimulation and enrichment activities. Paperwork was an important aspect of the job and was to be completed throughout the day whenever any task was completed with a dog.
Each dog had their own file which needed to be kept up to date. Whilst in this role I started studying for my qualification with Guide Dogs which was a requirement of the role. I had to leave this position as I was unable to balance working full time with studying for my degree due to the long commute and high living costs of the area.
I moved back with family to focus on finishing my degree.
Receptionist and Administrator at Vets Now August 2016 – February 2018
I have previously worked at an emergency vet clinic as a Receptionist and Administrator. I worked within a small team offering out of hours and emergency vet care. As a receptionist I was the client's first point of contact, it was my job to greet the clients and liaise with the call centre to ensure all details are taken prior to the vet consultation. In emergency cases, I worked alongside the vet and nurse in assisting to safely transport the animal into the surgery and ensure the clients were reassured that their pet was being given quality care.
Other duties included: using the clinic computer system to input client and animal information and records, answering phone calls, completing and processing insurance claim forms, scanning and filing, and other various office duties. As an admin, I was responsible for the clinics banking and cash handling. I recorded all cash takings and outgoings and ensured this information was passed on to the finance department.
Other duties included: archiving, managing client debt, responding to emails, processing refunds and other administration tasks.
Kennel Assistant at Meg Heath Boarding Kennels March 2026 – June 2016 (Temporary Position)
I have previously worked at Meg Heath Boarding Kennels as a Kennel Assistant. This was a temporary position from March until June 2016. I worked 16 hours per week as a kennel assistant which involved cleaning out kennels, walking and exercising dogs, feeding dogs and general kennel duties. I also assisted with housework in the kennel owners house and office including hoovering and mopping, dusting, cleaning windows, hanging out washing and other household tasks.
Kennel Assistant at Lincolnshire Rescue Kennels & Clifftop Boarding Kennels and Cattery October 2014 – March 2016
I have previously worked as a Kennel Assistant Lincolnshire Rescue Kennels and Clifftop Boarding Kennels and Cattery.
My duties included: completing daily health checks on dogs, feeding dogs, exercising dogs, ensuring paperwork was kept up to date, completing daily food chart and kennel diaries, making bookings, taking payments, re-homing dogs from the rescue kennels, microchipping and vaccinating, speaking to customers and other kennel duties. Whilst in this job I completed a micro-chipping course allowing me to microchip stray dogs that came into the rescue kennels before they went to new homes. This job was physically demanding, and I worked outside in all weather.
Care Assistant at The Limes Care Home August 2013 – August 2014
I have previously worked as a Care Assistant. My role was to provide care and support for the residents in the care home. This involved washing, bathing and personal care, assisting residents with dressing, changing beds, providing food and drinks, attending social events and appointments.
It also involved some housework duties such as cleaning and tidying rooms, washing and sorting laundry and other household tasks. Whilst I was working at the care home, I also studied various qualifications in health and social care with RTS training.
Care Assistant at Bloomsbury Home Care April 2013 – June 2013
I have previously worked as a Home Care Assistant. My role as a Home Carer was to visit client's homes in a variety of locations and offer them care and support. The type of care was provided on an individual basis and varied from person to person but generally included assistance with washing, bathing and dressing, administering of medication, support with meals and toileting, housework and social care such as social outings and companionship.
I had to leave this job as all my wages were being spent on travel to/from the client's homes and I couldn't afford to continue.
Customer Service Team Member at Domino's Pizza September 2011 – May 2012
My first job was for Domino's pizza where I worked as a member of the Customer Service team. I had various jobs to do which included preparing pizzas, taking orders over the phone and over the counter, regular cleaning of the shop, money handling and preparing pizza boxes. I worked at Domino's pizza whilst studying my A levels at sixth form.
