Katherine Wood

I am a graduate of Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, LA with a B.S. in Biological Sciences with minors in Psychology and Business Administration. I am currently a final year medical student at the University of Buckingham Medical School with the anticipated graduation date of June 2025. My objective is to use my five years of patient health care experience and professional medical knowledge in a healthcare related job to help achieve the company’s goals.

1. Health Care Assistant Theatre, Circle Health Group, Bedford United Kingdom August 2022- March 2023 

• As a Theatre Health Care Assistant, I am responsible for assisting scrub nurses and surgeons in multiple surgeries from a variety of specialties. My role includes prepping surgical tools, assisting in the set up and closure of each procedure, managing surgical equipment, and filing paperwork. In addition, I am responsible for the cleaning and managing of surgical sets, prepping of the patient on and off the operating table, administering fluids, administering local infiltration. This experience has given me hands on surgical skills experience and a vast knowledge of the sets and equipment needed in multiple surgical specialties including: plastics, orthopedics, vascular, urinary, gynecology, and general surgery.

2. Medical Assistant, Interventional Pain Institute
   • Baton Rouge LA October 2019- January 2021

• As a Medical Assistant, I was responsible for taking patients' vital signs, including weight and blood pressure. I was also responsible for taking each patient back prior to seeing the provider and recording their intake electronically including the following: new symptoms, treatment plan preferences, pain status, medical history, surgical history, and recent imaging. I have gained useful clinical experience by performing the following tasks: administering Toradol injections, performing staple removals, prepping ITP pump adjustments, and wheeling patients in and out of the procedure room.

2. Baton Rouge, LA September 2018 – September 2019

• As a Medical Scribe, I assisted physicians and mid-level professionals in the Emergency Department by charting patient’s history, symptomology, and examination results in the EPIC medical record system. Also, I placed consults with specialty physicians, and acted as liaison between patients and their treating emergency room physician. 
• By working at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center, I have acquired the following skills and qualities:
• Understanding anatomical terminology 
• Providing patients with needed care and attention
• Further developed my ability to multitask in a stressful environment

1. Lab Technician, BHO Technology, LLC
2. Baton Rouge, LA May 2018 - August 2018

• As a lab technician in a biomedical research facility, my responsibilities included: autoclaving lab equipment, prepping media lab, producing agar plates, and researching clients for hydrogen usage/DNA sequencing. In addition, I created lab reports for successful products, conducted independent patent research, and used UV light for sterilization.
• While working at BHO Technology, LLC, I was able to develop the following skills and qualities:
• Understanding laboratory diagnostic terms and proper usage 
• Improvement of technical skills
• My potential for professional advancement in research

1. Customer Service Representative, Majoria Drugs Pharmacy

• Metairie, LA March 2014 - August 2015

• Served as Customer Service Representatives that was responsible for assisting customers in fulfilling prescription requests and verifying insurance coverages. Was also responsible for assessing customer’s concerns, resolving their issues, or directing to a pharmacist for resolution. 
• By working at Majoria Drugs, I was able to develop the following skills and qualities:

• Organization of documentation through filing prescriptions
