Kayla Brison

Highly motivated UCL graduate with a Bachelor's in Linguistics. Recently completed an internship in editing and marketing academic content. I’ve also had experience working in retail and hospitality which has improved my people skills, ability to work under pressure, and time management skills. Currently, I’m working as a business support assistant at a finance company where I’m learning how an office operates as well as acquiring administrative skills.

Publishing experience: Marketing and editorial internship (Open Book Publishing)

• Used adobe InDesign and Canva to create marketing materials (back and frontmatter, social media images to advertise upcoming titles and posters)
• Proofread documents and made edits using the “track changes” feature on Word and liaised with different departments in daily meetings

• Provided administrative support across two offices
• Updating excel spreadsheets 
• Ensuring for starters and leavers in the calendar, all is in place for new hires i.e. creating passes, welcome/goodbye emails, and assigning appropriate training
• Making sure the kitchen is constantly replenished and machines are in order

• Responsible for taking bookings as well as organising and functions for large groups
• Closed and opened tills and card machines and maintained a controlled environment.
