Catering Assistant at Wadham College, Oxford University (2024-02 – Present)
I started working at Wadham College as I feel it is a very rewarding and knowledgable job. Over the past year working there I have expanded my knowledge and skills in many various ways, some including dietary requirements, customer service, unformal and formal dinners. Extending this, I feel my knowledge in dietary requirements are excellent.
I have experienced very professional level of service, one example is we host a Wadham experience every year where we cater for our sponsors. this includes very long days and extremely accurate levels of work. This is a great example of when I have to work under pressure. The skills I gained from this are organisation, time keeping, communication and high standards of hygiene.
Not only do we host a Wadham experience week we also have conferences where we serve many different catering options including, coffee stations, formal dinners and sandwich stations. Following this, we also do the same for schools. While working at Wadham I often work behind the bar.
This is a great example of communication, due to the loud and busy environment. Working behind the bar includes but not limited to, serving students, conferences and staff, cleaning and opening and closing down making sure everything is locked and secured. At Wadham we also serve SCR (senior common room).
This means we serve professors, we host formal dessert for them as well as formal dinner, we also host drink receptions for the professors as well as our warden. We cater for weddings, christenings, wine tasting and many more. Not only have I gained all this mentioned, we also use wash up after events which including using chemicals and how to store them safely.
Another great example of communication during this job role is our events team organise our events for us so we require excellent communication to ensure we are carrying out the correct work. This is also a very trust worthy job as we also require to handle our silver safe where we keep very valuable and unreplacable items.

I loved my job at Tesco and had the opportunity to meet many people from all different walks of life. I would restock the shelf's and help customers around the store. I was also trained to work on the till.
