I am an Engineer who have studied both Automotive and clinical engineering. I am a person who is willing to learn, initiative and focused on implementing new progressive ideas using my engineering expertise and technology.
From 2003 to 2005, I gained valuable experience working in the food processing industry in Glasgow, Scotland. During this period, I was involved in various production line operations, quality control procedures, and routine maintenance of equipment, which helped to develop my attention to detail and adherence to strict health and safety standards. This early industrial experience provided me with a solid foundation in team collaboration and problem-solving within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
I am now a qualified Rehabilitation Engineer having spent 4 years studying BSc Rehabilitation Engineering at Coventry University. Pursuing a career as a seating/Rehab clinician has always been my primary aspiration, as I am extremely passionate about this field. I feel this role is significant for my acquisition of further knowledge and development of posture and mobility services.
I am a reliable, passionate and sociable person who have worked as a Clinical/Rehab Engineer for the NHS and a private company in an NHS contract.
After completing my 4th year BSc (Hons) Rehabilitation Engineering course, I carried out my professional practice as a Trainee Rehabilitation Engineer for one year at West midlands Rehabilitation Centre in Birmingham, UK where i worked for the Birmingham wheelchair services and the regional Posture and Mobility services which enabled me to achieve competencies for many IPEM portfolios and improve the knowledge of postural seating and mobility and gained some fundamental ideas of what difference medical equipment can make to a client’s independence.
As an R.E working in a multi-disciplinary team of clinicians, i have developed problem solving skills and from the moment I see the client I would instantly start the thought process in my head on how to solve the client’s problems. I do this by observing, communicating with client or carer, open and flexible problem-solving skills, sometimes designing modifications, having a good knowledge of what products can and cannot do, research, teamwork, online Rehab team discussions and sometimes referrals. I am a highly motivated rehabilitation and I regularly attend several STEPS training sessions at Sunrise Medical in Stourbridge, West Midlands which covers new and existing products, product development courses at Invacare, Conferences such as PMG and Naidex.
I also attended Dynamic and P&G training and demo sessions to keep myself updated on power wheelchair controls and innovations as part of my CPD. Part of my role was to manage 10 workshop and Field technicians, guiding them through quality standards to maintain health and safety for them and our clients, signing off any modifications, repairs and PPMs done on site and managing my own workload and that of the multi-disciplinary team that included 6 band 6 OTs and 2 OT assistants. In 2018-2019 I embarked on further studies to improve my teaching and guiding techniques and I enrolled at Milton Keynes college to study a level 3 as a Teaching assistant practitioner followed by a level 2 in Equality and Diversity and Sage for businesses level 2.
I joined a Care Company in September 2019 and specialised is assessing all their clients with special needs, did the company’s payroll and HR. I am currently doing the same job now and am now involved in the management of the daily running of the business including managing individuals with special needs. With an Engineering background I aspire to develop myself into fulltime Management by pursuing Management courses at a Masters level.
