Relief Dispenser - Weldricks

(2021-06 - 2022-06)

I was engaged as a Relief Dispenser for Weldricks Pharmacy, which means I travel around their entire branches within South Yorkshire covering vacancies, annual leave, sickness and providing resilience to their busy branches. Whilst employed at Weldricks I have completed the Medicines Counter Assistant Programme; this is the NOS equivalent to RQF Level 2 in pharmacy services and also the GPhC Accredited Health Care Assistant Programme. My roles at the various branches that I work at includes the following:

  • Receiving shop and dispensary stock and putting this away. For the shop order - I work to a planner as to where stock should be placed, I also have to price the stock up – with a pricing gun.
  • With dispensary stock – I am often in branches on bulk order delivery day, so there's quite a lot of stock to put away including "Fast Mover" items, so a working knowledge of each branch's fast movers is key.
  • I cover the shop element of the branches and, in doing so, I sell GSL medicines along with other goods sold in the branch, such as sanitary items, makeup, toiletries and many more items. I also hand out prescriptions and take prescription charges for those customers not exempt from paying.
  • Part of my role also includes ensuring shelves in the shop and dispensary are kept clean – and also monitoring drugs in the dispensary/products in the shop to ensure that these are well within their use by date.
  • When working in the dispensary – I dispense all drugs/medicines/creams/ointments etc in line with green, blue and electronic prescriptions received. However, I also dispense medicines where private and vet prescriptions have been provided. Some of the branches that I work in use Meth Measure Machines and as such I also dispense methadone via the branch's Meth Measure – but clearly only on receipt of a blue prescription.
  • Occasionally branches will run low on medication and/or a person will require a specific medication and/or a specific brand of medication such as Teva or Accord. I therefore will order medication directly from the supplier's website such as Alliance or AAH.
  • Some branches don't carry a large number of Libre 2 Sensor kits in stock – so whenever I label and dispense these, I have to order them from the supplier's website.
  • In addition, some branches choose not to carry large amounts of insulin in stock (and/or supress the auto ordering facility when the labelling is being done), so whenever, I label such items – I also must order them direct from the supplier's website.
  • In addition, some customers require specialised items such as bandages and I am required to order these directly from the supplier NWOS, as clearly not all items/bandages etc or carried in branch.
  • Whilst working in the dispensary part of my role actually includes labelling – and its at the labelling stage where I will order items from the likes of AAH, Alliance or NWOS – because at the labelling stage, it is apparent to me that the item on the prescription is something that we may not have in stock (the auto ordering process may not pick up) and as such whilst labelling orders will need to be placed via Alliance, AAH or NWOS for example.
  • Also, when I am charged with labelling, I also have to track prescriptions and pull them from the "Spine" – so that they can be labelled and dispensed.
  • I also assist with updating the Weldricks App/notifying patients when their medication is ready.
  • Cleary a big part of my role also involves me liaising with the customers/patients/their relatives/Care workers/Support workers and various departments within the NHS, such as hospitals and GP surgeries

Customer Services Contact Centre Agent - Royal Mail via Pertemps

(2021-04 - 2021-06)

The role involves dealing with all queries around the services that Royal Mail provide anything from tracking issues to dealing with collection matters. I am using at least 16 computer systems/data bases which include SAP and Siebel on a daily basis.

Assembly Operation - Kuhene & Nagle (via Pertemps)

(2020-12 - 2021-03)

I worked at K & N Sheffield licenced pharmaceutical warehouse on a fixed term assembly operation of medical kits which required precise manual dexterity, an extremely high level of accuracy and a questioning mind always alert to product issues that were out of specification. Quality control was extremely important as was document controlled paperwork. The site and procedures adhered strictly to the MHRA rules and extremely high standards of work and behaviour were required.

The operation was regarded as highly productive, cost effective, flexible and above all extremely accurate, both in following procedures and in terms of the final product quality and only closed because the project came to completion.
