- Dealt with patients in crisis on a daily basis with sensitivity, empathy and honesty.
- Gained wide experience in Dual Diagnosis and managing comorbidities, physical health concerns related to age and lifestyle issues, which I monitored.
- Regularly took charge of shifts, organising staff and prioritising time and resources effectively to maintain the safety, health and wellbeing of patients, staff and visitors and to optimize the work of the ward.
- Worked with nursing students from several universities and was used to working 12 hour long days.
- Worked in a supporting capacity on all of the wards across the hospital when required at short notice.
- Worked well with colleagues and clients from many different cultures, with a personal commitment to equality in diversity.

- Participated and contributed fully to team meetings and consultation; advised colleagues; signposted and referred clients to appropriate external agencies and liaised with them using written and verbal communications.
- Responded to emergencies across the hospital, including violence and aggression and medical emergencies.
- Used a tactful and calm approach with clients displaying challenging behaviours and was familiar with a trauma informed approach to difficult situations.
- Frequently dealt with psychotic patients, approaching them with a non-judgmental and empathic attitude.
