RGN with more than 30 years experience - I have worked in a number of different fields after qualifying. These have ranged from general medical wards, to specialised care of the elderly units, with periods in respiratory and neuro units within the NHS. Private nursing experience has included a number of nursing homes, both in the UK and overseas and private surgical units. More recent experiences include acute mental health work and community nursing.
Guide and historian - After completing my History degree in 2000, I have worked as a visiting lecturer and head of the oral history program (Second World War archive) at Wolverhampton University. I also work part time as a battlefield guide, guiding groups of adults, veterans and school groups to various battlefield sites in Europe, currently concentrating on school groups in France and Belgium.

I work as a community staff nurse in Guernsey. My day to day experiences are varied, but include diabetes care, catheterization and care thereof, stoma care, dressings/wound care and palliative care. I work closely with families and other carers as well as other members of the MDT.
I have developed a close relationship with the patients and others involved in the care package we deliver. Aside from physical care we plan our care on a daily basis, managing our caseload, including teaching students and new members of staff.

History Department Visiting Lecturer - University of Wolverhampton

I worked as a visiting lecturer, lecturing to groups of up to 40 mature students. My main topic was the Great War, but I also looked at other eras and campaigns such as the Battle for Normandy. This also includes a field trip to the Normandy battlefields on an annual basis.
I also work as a researcher for Professor John Buckley conducting a number of interviews of British Army NW Europe veterans which have been included in the book 'Monty's Men'. This led me to head up the oral history programme at the university, where the work will be accessible on the university's web site.
