My name’s Mem (Mehmet), I’m a Web/ Game developer with 5 years of industry experience and 6 years of academic experience. I currently work part-time as a web developer (specialising in WebGL and WebXR) and as a Game Design lecturer (where I teach 3D modelling/rigging/animation and programming in C# for Unity).
I was recently under a short-term contract with Supermarket London (a child practice of Craig Walker) where I developed custom 3D components for a Web 3D and VR explainer for Meta. This role involved creating a bezier-curve based animation tool with React/ R3F and Three.js (alongside Gatsby and other supporting libraries). In addition I developed a template WebXR project using Playcanvas.
Both of these pieces supported the greater development team in the scene-by-scene construction of the narrative sequence.
Prior to my position at Supermarket London, I worked as a lead developer for Studio Hyte for whom I’ve developed over 15 web experiences, each with a unique form of interaction. In this role I translated contemporary (and mostly experimental) design concepts into Web 3D, AR or other forms of web-based immersive experiences. Through Studio Hyte I’ve worked with CMS platforms, Three.js, AR.js, WebXR, JQuery, Php and a variety of API’s for award winning art and design projects.
My entry into the creative arts is through illustration, which I studied at Central Saint Martins. Though I was introduced to programming as a child (with MS DOS) it wasn’t until university where I applied my knowledge to develop my first games. Nowadays I consider myself a programmer, but love design, illustration, modelling, and animation.
When I find the time from juggling lecturing and freelance work I pursue my own game projects. The last project I developed involved a procedurally animated spider who has the ability of crawling on any surface.
