I started my career in the wine industry, mostly retail, but then organising wine tastings and designing wine menus for bars and restaurants. In the late 00’s I took a career break to look after my ailing father, and during this period became interested in history. My research was primarily biographical, but my reading was holistic in nature, encompassing the political, social and military history of the eighteenth century, and of Scotland in particular. I also read relevant works of philosophy, anthropology, sociology and literature. On the strength of my studies and preliminary research I was accepted to study for a Master’s degree at Oxford Brookes University, where my studies were interrupted by the pandemic. I decided to pursue a career in education, so to that end I got a job a Summerfields School in Oxford, which has only hardened my resolve to become a teacher.
I had a career in the wine industry, I needed a change, went to university, now I want to teach.
I have a post graduate certificate in history with merit from Oxford Brookes
