• Draft Temporary S14(1), 14(2) and 16(a) Traffic notices and Orders.
• Develop briefs, feasibility studies and undertake design and implementation of schemes, projects and programmes for small and medium sized projects as allocated, including drawing using specialist IT Software.
• Assist with the design and supervision of projects, preparation of estimates, working drawings and Contract documents for projects of varying complexity, dependent on the post holder's grading.
• Assist in designing specifications and cost estimates, issuing works requisitions, liaising with and supervising contractors and monitoring costs.
• Assist in obtaining the necessary technical, administrative and financial approvals and in the preparation, supervision and administration of associated consultants' commissions or contracts.

Traffic Regulation Orders Officer (Temporary Notices & Orders) - Surrey County Council

(2025-09 - 2026-01)

• Draft, promote and seal Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders (TTROs) and statutory Notices under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, producing all legal schedules, definitions, maps and diagrams to demanding programme deadlines.
• Manage the full statutory procedure: consult prescribed bodies and Members, arrange publication in the London Gazette and local press, and brief Street Works Inspectors on the installation and removal of on-site signage.
• Provide authoritative legal advice to highways engineers, developers, utility companies and senior officers, ensuring every temporary restriction is proportionate, enforceable and fully compliant with national legislation.
• Safeguard the Council's legal position by ensuring all Orders are correctly sealed before works commence and that deposited documents remain available for public inspection for the statutory period.
• Monitor programme and finance: collate evidence of spend, raise and chase external invoices, and assist with budget monitoring for the Traffic Regulation Orders Team.
• Drive continuous improvement—reviewing processes, templates and GIS records—to embed best practice across the service

Assistant Traffic Orders Officer - London borough of Lambeth

• Respond to all the Traffic Orders team's service requests and enquiries promptly, escalating if outside post-holder's area of responsibility.
• After undertaking any necessary research, write first drafts for any highway-related legal orders and public notices requested by the Council or by others
• Ensure the accuracy and comprehensiveness of all definitions of restriction and prohibition in draft orders, using maps and diagrams.
• Circulate draft proposals to all statutory consultees in advance of publication, recording and communicating any responses prior to final draft
• Prepare documentation for public consultation, including arranging for publication of the statutory notices in the London Gazette and local press and preparing on-site notices, ensuring full compliance with The Local Authorities' Traffic Orders (Procedure) (England and Wales) Regulations 1996
• Make deposited documents available for public inspection, ensuring that these can be accessed during normal working hours at the address stated on the order/notice for not less than six weeks after the Order was made.
• Instruct the appropriate Street Works Inspectors on the placing, checking and removal of on-site notices, securing and filing a Certificate of Posting upon removal. If no Street Inspector is available attend site to display notice.
• Maintain all indices, records, files etc. including financial records, updating as required in addition to amending and consolidating previous orders.
• Collate evidence of spend and prepare draft invoices for external customers. When approved by line manager, issue invoices and chase payment as necessary
• Work flexibly in undertaking the duties and responsibilities of this job and participate as required in multi-disciplinary cross-department and cross-organisational groups and task team
