I am a recent graduate from Queen Mary University, achieving a 2:1 in History and comparative literature. My degree included the opportunity for me to study abroad in Singapore for a year. I am an extensive traveller having travelled across Southeast Asia and Europe. These experiences have given me the tools to be independent and developed my cultural awareness by imbedding myself into different environments.
I am a second generation Immigrant from a low income household. I’ve been working in retail since I was 16 years if age and I would help out in family businesses since I was 12. I have worked in a range of retail environments from clothing, electronic, takeaways and supermarket. I am currently working as a leasing agent for luxury apartments. My employment and academic achievements have given me key skills to develop my career in the legal field.
Lastly, I’ve come to a late realisation that I want to peruse a career in law. I want to develop my law experience and one day become a solicitor. This position will be the perfect stepping stone to begin my journey in the field of law.
Exceptional communication: shown through my success in academics and my client/customer based employment.
Cultural and commercial awareness: I have engaged with people from all walks of life in my various roles. My commercial awareness developed from different backgrounds at sales and extends beyong the classroom by having travelled around the world.
Leadership and teamwork: I volunteered as a summer school teacher responsible for the learning and welfare of 30 students. Furthermore, I’ve worked well in a team whether in a professional or leisurely environment. Working with colleagues or teammates in a football team share the same characteristics as we all work together efficiently to achieve the same goal.
Administrative duties: I have spent years in my academics refining my research and analytical skills. Writing essays requires being able to analyse and understand various sources of information, organising data and then communicating your conclusion in an effective manner. Processing data and organising information is also a skill im improving professionally within my current role as a leasing agent.
My role is to contact clients via calls, emails, social media. Process their information, deal with prospective client inquiries and to aid current residence with any assistance they may need. This is very similar to a role as a legal advisor, which is why I believe I would be extremely effective in this role.
