I am a Senior Sustainability Consultant at Energy Saving Trust, specializing in greenhouse gas emissions measurement and actions aligned with UK and EU regulations. Prior to this, I was an academic developing new technologies across chemistry, physics, and biological analysis, and served as lead author on multiple patents. I have carried this innovative approach into my current role, creating several products that build on Energy Saving Trust’s existing infrastructure.
Alongside building out tools and methods in line with any organisations strengths I've have worked with major clients, including the UK’s largest estate agency to charities like the UK’s largest animal welfare charity. I also work on government reports with a recently published example being a bespoke report for the UK government, mapping current GHG regulatory frameworks and providing actionable recommendations, which have since been implemented.
Inventor: I have patents in methods and products from my time in Academia where innovation combined with data analysis and expertise were our bread and butter.
After leaving Academia for the consulting and regulatory world I have designed and developed additional innovative products and approaches (in the digital space)
Leader: For more than ten years I have defined tasks and lead on their completion, often via collaboration with relevant experts in order to accomplish this fast and efficiently and importantly with high quality. But, as stated above, in relation to those patents I am lead author, and design and developing new products, I have again been lead. Further to this, after a brief period of learning when entering the consulting space I rapidly moved into taking over leadership of the projects I was involved in.
Collaborator: In my time as an academic I set up or engaged in collaborations with Oxford Univeristy, Edinburgh University, Czech academy of Sciences, The institute of Thermophysics in Novosibirsk, Kyoto University, Nagoya University, and other smaller collaborations where I was in a more assistive role rather than lead investigator. My role as a consultant I have also pushed internal collaborations which have helped me in development of these new technologies for providing cost effective solutions to clients problems.
Analyst: Following a PhD and 5 years post doc in the physical sciences I have a very strong ability for pattern recognition, hypothesis generation and large data set handling.
PhD from University of Edinuburgh in the field of laser systems, nanoscience and spectroscopic analysis.
Masters degree from University of Edinburgh in Chemical Physics.
