I have been teaching for many years and have accumulated a great deal of experience, especially in the post-16 sector. I am still very enthusiastic and keen to help students to achieve their academic potential. Over the years I have taught a number of different subjects at A level.
This has partly been the result of curriculum changes, and partly the consequence of changes in student demand. I have always been flexible and adaptable and willing to develop new skills, especially the use of technology in the classroom has increased. I have a good deal of experience of pastoral work.
I am now sixty three years of age; however, I'm still lively and enthusiastic and keen to take on a new challenge. A part-time post would suit me well at this stage of my career, but I am also happy to continue full-time.

Began as a teacher of Politics, but over the passage of time branched out into other subjects, including Religious Studies and Philosophy in addition to Sociology.
Teacher - WQE1C college - Leicester
Most of my experience in teaching was acquired at WQE1C college in Leicester. This very large, culturally diverse college was an interesting place to work and I learned a great deal from the experience. The college focused on staff development and training and I learned a good deal about equal opportunities, safeguarding and the promotion of core values.
Teacher of Geography - Primakov School - Russia

Having taken a break from teaching in 2018/2019 to deal with a medical issue – which was resolved successfully – I decided to try something different. This is why I moved overseas to teach. I obtained employment in Russia and experienced three years of working there.
My first job, at Primakov School, was a departure for me, because I taught Geography -as part of an English language programme – to secondary school students aged eleven to sixteen. I had to pay much attention to classroom management than I needed to do in my previous post and employ more of the techniques I had learned in my teacher training course. I fared well and established a very good rapport with the students.
I discovered that their regular Russian curriculum was very content-oriented and focused on rote-learning, and worked hard to introduce a greater focus on the development of academic skills. The students were responsive and made good progress.
Teacher of A level and GCSE Economics and Business - Russian International School
At the Russian International School I spent two years teaching A level and GCSE Economics and Business. As a sole teacher of these subjects I prepared materials from scratch, including everything from class notes and handouts to schemes of work. The students worked hard and achieved excellent results. At this school and at Primakov I acquired some experience of remote teaching and learning due to the COVID pandemic, although on-site teaching continued most of the time.
Teacher - NTD Manchester - Salford

I returned to the UK in December 2022 because my mother was diagnosed with a terminal illness. The school was very supportive and was able to find a replacement teacher before I left. I began working at NTD Manchester in January 2023, which was very convenient for me because my mother lived in Salford.
I have been teaching a foundation course in Economics to overseas students who are aiming to progress to UK universities. The students have been teaching enrol in September or January and embark on a very intense programme of study that concludes with examinations at the end of June or early July. The course is quite challenging to teach because of the very short time frame.
The students are not native English speakers and I believe that my experience in Russia has been useful in helping me to understand their needs better. My contract is being terminated because I am being made redundant, and this is why I am looking for a new position for September.
