This involved in-depth technical reports and implementation of costing methodologies which accurately reflect the company's development work and time to maximise their corporation tax reduction and support their R&D tax benefit in line with HMRC's BEIS Guidelines at CIRD81900. I also support the technical review of claims, provide guidance and mentoring to junior analysts, contribute to complex client meetings and help ensure consistency and technical quality across the wider R&D claim process. Responsibility also included assisting and managing HMRC enquiry defence, including reviewing HMRC challenges, developing technical and legislative responses, gathering supporting evidence from clients and defending the eligibility of R&D projects and associated expenditure.
This requires critically assessing the strength of claims, identifying areas of technical or compliance risk and presenting clear, evidence-based arguments to support the client's position.
