I have recently completed my bachelors degree (2021) in Mechanical Engineering and graduated from the University of Sussex with Honours First Class. I am particularly proud of achieving a first in my dissertation titled “The Impact of the HVAC System of an Electric Vehicle on the Driving Range in Extreme Weather Conditions”. It focused on modeling the cooling and heating system of an Electric Vehicle (EV) in extreme weather conditions and predicting the driving range accordingly.
I decided to use MATLAB/Simulink to create the model of an EV. The outcome was to help drivers become more aware of the actual driving range when the heat pump is on.
I decided to continue my education and pursue a Master’s in Mechatronics and Robotics at the University of Leeds. I recently completed my masters degree in September 2022. My master’s thesis focused on investigating an RSSI-based Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) indoor localization system on an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV).
An algorithm was developed to aid in identifying the location of the UAV in an indoor environment. This was accomplished by having two microcontrollers, where one of them was a master device and the other was a slave device, and they were connected to one another via BLE. Two codes were created using Arduino and C++ coding language for each microcontroller.
The master device was programmed to scan the unique BLE address of the slave device. Meanwhile, the slave device was programmed to advertise its unique BLE address. Once both devices were connected to each other via BLE, the RSSI readings appear on the master device.
These readings were then used to determine relationships with the path loss exponent, calculated distance, measured distance, and percentage error in distance. All these factors will then be used to identify the location of the UAV.
