Service/Installation engineer at Netomnia (2024-09 – Present)
- Installations in customers premises for FTTP.
- Customer based role, face to face encounters fitting fibre where the customer wants or if it is not possible I will make sure I put it into a place where the customer is happy.
- Using the company portal in order to find equipment and cable runs in order to follow the work order correctly.
- Dealing with service faults when the customers internet is down, this could be due to a break or a high light loss.
- Using redlights, Power meters and test leads to identify faults and fix it efficiently for the customer.
- Using Health and safety procedures when climbing poles, opening box lids or parking in public places to ensure the public, myself and colleagues are safe.

- Testing using an EXFO using IOLM through testflow, We have to get passed results there is no leaving a test on a fail.
- Fault finding and fixing faults i.e if the fibre is on the wrong port I would then need to investigate and get it on the right port allocation and find where the cross is, high splices, micro bends, damaged cables that needs to be reported to get recabled.
- Using equipment such as Live fibre detector, red light, EXFO and power meters so I can investigate and fix the fault.
- Working from our cabs and testing upto 12 Kilometers.
- Working on a live network having to ensure we do not knock any customers off.
- Having to locate joints from testing and also finding where the faults lie and having to fix them in a timely manor
- Building pole joints and making sure it meets the B.T criteria as we use there infrastructure.
