Work Placement - RG Luma Automotive - April 2018
A week-long work placement at RG Luma, specialists in Lean manufacturing. During this time, learnt technical skills such as the fundamentals of CAD and designed key components for their operations. Then using orthographic drawing, assembled the parts in order to further the efficiency of the production line.
Cardiff University - September 2019 – Present
Studied varying modules over 3 years including Electrical Technology, Mechanics, and Thermofluids, achieving 73%, 66%, and 64% respectively. Alongside other areas of study, these modules have all provided a great insight into how knowledge can be applied within the workplace.
Undertook multiple group work projects including researching, designing, reporting, and evaluating a reduction gearbox and designing and manufacturing of a form of personal transport to improve mobility, predominantly in urban areas. Led both projects as team leader, ensuring that all deadlines were met, new ideas were brought forward and the analysis performed was both thorough and informative, resulting in a first in both projects.
Completed a final project (achieving 64%) to explore the feasibility of EV conversions in an agricultural setting, analyse the environmental impact and assess the cost of the conversion. This included calculating and comparing the emissions of both an EV and diesel Land Rover.
