Shivani Thakrar

As an undergraduate student at university, I have always wanted to go above and beyond and achieve my dreams. I'm extremely drawn into the commercial world of editing, copywriting and publishing, and I truly believe that my skill-sets would be well suited to several companies. The prospect of working abroad in the future and my placement year is enthralling and I am keen to explore all aspects of these opportunities.

• Alongside my university course, during first year I have an online tutoring job with the the company MyTutor that I intend to continue with throughout my time at university. I teach English Literature and Language to GCSE and A Level Students, a subject I am greatly passionate about and it brings me a great sense of achievement to be able to transfer my skills to those younger than myself.
• During Summer 2021 and 2022, I worked at Camp Beaumont St Helen’s Northwood, an activity camp for ages 3-16 as a group leader encouraging children to partake in sporting and creative activites over the course of 3 months, as well as taking up shifts at Easter and Christmas. I work with a range of ages and find the job extremely interactive, however challenging at times. It has taught me great leadership skills as well as great communication skills, with the children as well as my colleagues.
• I currently work as a part time lifeguard and leisure assistant at Bushey Grove Leisure Centre. I carry out pool tests, keep the gym and showers sanitary as well as lifeguarding lane swimming sessions, kid's inflatable parties and public swimming sessions.

I attended Haberdashers School for Girls, Elstree (2015-2021) achieving grades A*-B in all my subjects and A-C in my A levels.

I currently study English Literature with Creative Writing at Lancaster University (2021-2024)
